  • Grading Policy

    45%    Participation    This means that you must turn on your laptop camera and be in the                                                 picture. You will be asked to give feedback by participating in our                                                      discussions. Students will perform on camera so that they can be                                                       properly assessed.

    35%     Projects

    20%     Quiz/Test

    Classroom Expectations:
    • Respect towards other students, your directors, classroom visitors, and all performers.

    We try to create a classroom of trust without fear of emotional distress, fear of ridicule, or fear for personal safety. Without an emotionally safe space, we cannot grow creatively

    • Active Participation and Proper Rehearsal Technique in every rehearsal.

    Participation in warm-ups at the beginning of each class.

    Completion of Daily Journal/Discussion through Canvas.

    Working well with team members (both self-chosen and assigned)

    Respectful attentiveness to all instructions, discussions, and classroom performances.

    Proper and non-distracting group rehearsal habits

    Memorization of material in a timely manner.

    Willingness to make bold choices physically and vocally during performance opportunities.

    • Courtesy-

    Use common sense about respecting the room and property of the school and other students.

    Be willing to move either your seat or the configuration of the seats as class needs arise.

    Cell phones, mp3 players, headphones and any other personal technology are not permitted

    ▪Should not be visible at any point during class or rehearsals

    ▪Personal technology is a privilege to have inside of the school building and should never be a distraction to the activities that are planned for class or rehearsal.

    Applying personal makeup (not stage makeup) or doing work for other classes is not to helpful to the environment we are trying to create.

    • Timeliness

    Class begins with warm-ups when the bell rings, so please be prepared.

    Tardiness will be counted if a student is more than one (1) minute after the bell and upon arrival to class, students must become participants in the warm-ups.

    • Student Supplies-

    Students are recommended to have a pecil at every class, rehearsal, or audition.

    All students must have all homework, assignments, or performances prepared to turn in at the beginning of class on the due date.

    • Homework-

    Homework may be given including short written assignments, memorizations of script, character analyses, self-evaluations, readings, etc.

    All homework make-up will be at the discretion of the director, but it is the student’s responsibility to ask director for missed work

    • In-Class Performances-

    All students complete all in-class performances as an audience member and in their onstage role.

    Audience members will be respectful of those onstage.

    Performers will be prepared and do quality work, taking appropriate risks, up to the caliber that they are capable of.

    • High Academic/Social Standards-

    Students are expected to follow all school rules and high academic standards set forth in the school handbook during class and during any outside time spent with the department activities

    • Out-Of-Class Rehearsals/Performances-

    All theater students will have additional opportunities to perform outside of class, if you choose to take part in these extra-curricular activities, you must be aware of the time commitment and be at rehearsals and performances for those occasions.

    Advanced Theatre Arts and Advanced Technical Theatre students will be expected to take part in departmental opportunities throughout the year and need to be role models during those rehearsals and performances.

    It is your responsibility to stay in communication with your director about all problems, changes, needs, and special circumstances that arise.

    Directors may contact parents through e-mail or phone numbers

    ▪These contacts may regard updates, student victories, or disciplinary purposes.

    • Other

    Students are expected to follow all written and verbal rules presented by their director.
