My name is Mrs. Thomas and I look forward to working with you this school year. I hope that you had a great summer. My goal is to help students learn about the complex history of America from the lenses of African Americans. This course will pull from multiple social studies disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, and economics to understand the contributions of African Americans to America's national identity. History is not just written, it is lived so we will use Africana and ethnographic studies to understand the lived experiences of African Americans as they journey from the continent of Africa to the contemporary United States.
